NEPC PLEDGES TO SUPPORT MORE OF FEMALE NON-OIL EXPORTS

The Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) in collaboration with international trade Centre at a She Trade Common wealth program organised a  women Led Business program to show case and support  the creativity and contributions of women exporters to the Nigerian Economy.

With the theme ‘Trading Beyond Borders, Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole called on women in the export space to keep pushing for more  not minding the limitations, as the government is set to empower women Led businesses in Nigeria’s non-oil export sector and also support them to success.

In her address, NEPC’s Executive Director,Mrs. Nonye Ayeni, emphasized the importance of women’s participation in the economy, citing a PwC 2024 report that reveals 32% of SMEs in Nigeria are women-led. 

Ayeni highlighted NEPC’s commitment to supporting women-led businesses through various initiatives, including capacity-building programs, certifications, and trade missions.

The event is a celebration of the International Women’s Day 2025 and features carefully curated sessions and exhibitions designed to inspire, educate, and equip participants with the tools to expand their businesses beyond borders.

Ayeni expressed her gratitude to partners at the International Trade Centre (ITC) for their support and collaboration.

NEPC CEO,Mrs Nonye said NEPC has made significant strides in supporting women-led businesses, including training and supporting over 8,000 women entrepreneurs since 2019.

The council has also sponsored 125 women to acquire certifications such as HACCP, FDA, and ISO 22000.
