WATER RESOURCES MINISTER, SULEMAN ADAMU CALLS FOR HIGH LEVEL HYGIENE IN THE COUNTRY

Minister of water resources, Engineer Suleiman Adamu has called for a need to develop a comprehensive roadmap

To ensure the culture of hand hygiene even after covid-19 pandemic is over.

At a media briefing to mark this year’s 2020 Global Hand washing day, Engineer Suleman emphasized that hand washing with soap is critical to health as well as economic development of any nation.

The 2020 Global Handwashing Day theme of ‘Hand Hygiene for All’ is aligned to the recent Hand Hygiene Global Initiative launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF to implement the recommendations on the prevention and control of COVID-19.

Noting that the initiative is aimed at ensuring behavior change and lasting infrastructure beyond the pandemic which requires putting in place policies, institutional environment, hand washing facilities and scaling up successful evidence-based approaches for a sustained hand hygiene

Engineer Adamu however noted that the ‘clean Nigeria: Use the toilet’ initiative campaign to end open defecation in the country by the year 2025 is also ongoing  to further support the total hygiene plan of the government.
