The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, says the dispute over the C2 Maitama Substation has been resolved. The company made the announcement on Monday, saying repair works have commenced to restore electricity to Maitama and surrounding areas.
 
According to AEDC, the crisis followed the invasion and encroachment on the C2 Maitama Substation, which disrupted power supply to customers in the area. The company described the situation as unforeseen and exceptionally challenging.

AEDC said sustained engagements and the intervention of key stakeholders led to a resolution. With the issues now settled, technical teams have been mobilized to site to begin repairs and reinstatement of the damaged electricity infrastructure.

The distribution company expressed appreciation to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyesom Wike, and the Minister of Power, Chief Joseph Tegbe, for their swift intervention. AEDC said their leadership and support were instrumental in achieving a positive outcome.

AEDC confirmed that repair, reinstatement and restoration works are already underway at the substation. The company said every effort is being made to complete the works safely and restore supply to affected communities in the shortest possible time.

Management thanked customers in Maitama and neighbouring areas for their patience, understanding and support throughout the period of outage. AEDC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding critical electricity infrastructure across its franchise area.
