Policymakers, regulators and financial experts from Africa and Europe will meet virtually on October 8th, 2026 for DataPro Limited’s sixth International Credit Rating Webinar.
The theme of this year’s event is “Sovereign Credit Rating: Africa’s Roadmap to Investment Grade Status.” Participants are expected from government, development finance institutions, the corporate sector and the research community.
The webinar comes weeks after Nigeria’s sovereign rating was upgraded from B minus to B by major international agencies. Analysts say the upgrade signals growing confidence in the country’s economic reforms.
However, DataPro has warned that reaching full investment grade status will require consistent policies and discipline, not just short term improvements.
Panelists for the event include experts from RWI Essen, the Credit Rating Research Initiative, MOFI, the University of Bern, and the African Peer Review Mechanism.
A keynote address titled “Achieving Investment Grade Rating by 2030: The Roadmap for Nigeria” will focus on fiscal discipline, debt management and building institutional credibility.
Other sessions will look at what makes countries investment grade, the reforms needed, and lessons from nations that have improved their ratings. The webinar will be moderated by Oladele Adeoye, Chief Rating Officer of DataPro.
DataPro says the discussions will also cover capital market development and long term investment planning in Africa.
The agency is licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission and has organized the webinar yearly to deepen understanding of credit ratings across the continent.
