The Nigeria Customs Service has released N7.61 billion to nine Pension Fund Administrators for payment to 4,237 retirees. The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, announced this on Tuesday, 14th July 2026, during a dialogue with retired officers in Abuja.
According to the breakdown, Premium Pension has the highest number of beneficiaries with 2,268 retirees, followed by Access-ARM with 1,223. Other PFAs include Leadway Pensions with 403, TrustFund Pensions 156, FCMB Pensions 144, Veritas Glanvills 28, Norrenberger 11, and Fidelity Pension Managers 4. The funds have been sent to the PFAs for onward payment into individual accounts.
Speaking at the meeting, CGC Adeniyi said the Service must remain financially strong to meet its obligations to both serving officers and retirees. He stressed that the welfare of those who served for decades cannot be separated from the future of the institution.
The Customs boss urged retirees to sustain constructive engagement with the Service. He said the dialogue was called to promote better understanding and reduce the effect of rumors on the relationship between the Service and its retired personnel. He acknowledged their concerns and suggestions.
Also at the meeting was the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of Human Resources Development, DCG Tijjani Abe, and other members of the Management Team. They assured the retirees that their concerns would be tabled at the Service’s Board and Management sittings for appropriate action.
The meeting comes amid federal government efforts to review pension provisions, including Section 15(4) of the Pension Reform Act 2014, in line with the 1999 Constitution.
