ABUJA – The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, PTAD, has disbursed a total of ₦3.82 billion as accrued pension arrears to 30,356 Defined Benefit Scheme, DBS, pensioners across the country.

‎The payment was made to pensioners in the Parastatals Pension Department, Defunct and Transferred Agencies Pension Department, and the Tertiary, Education and Health Pension Department. According to PTAD, the funds cover outstanding entitlements verified during its review.

‎The disbursement followed the Back-End Computation, BEC, Review Exercise conducted by the Directorate. The exercise was aimed at addressing complaints relating to pension computations and unpaid arrears owed to DBS pensioners.

‎PTAD said the payment demonstrates its commitment to clearing verified outstanding obligations and improving the welfare of pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme. The agency noted that it remains focused on ensuring pensioners receive what is due to them.

The Executive Secretary of PTAD, Tolulope Odunaiya, thanked the affected pensioners for their cooperation during the review process. She reaffirmed the Directorate’s commitment to the timely, transparent, and accountable payment of verified pension entitlements.

‎Odunaiya also said the disbursement reflects the commitment of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resolving pension-related issues. She added that government is working to strengthen pension administration under the DBS.

‎In a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Olugbenga Ajayi, PTAD said it will continue to engage with DBS pensioners, resolve complaints promptly, and ensure efficient and transparent pension administration.
