
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation. The appointment takes effect from August 27, 2026.
Mr. Enitan, who hails from Osun State, succeeds Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack. Mrs. Walson-Jack is due to retire from the Federal Civil Service on attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.
Mr. Enitan is currently the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service. He has served for seven years and seven months as Permanent Secretary in the Ministries of Police Affairs, Humanitarian Affairs, the Office of the Vice President, and currently the Federal Ministry of Education.
President Tinubu expressed profound appreciation to Mrs. Walson-Jack for her distinguished service, reforms and innovations in the Civil Service, and wished her a fulfilling life after retirement.
The President urged the incoming Head of Service to consolidate ongoing reforms, deepen professionalism and efficiency, and build a more responsive Civil Service that can deliver on the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Mr. Enitan was born on December 12, 1966. He attended Ajibode Grammar School, Ibadan and College of Arts and Science, Ile-Ife. He holds a http://B.Sc. in Finance and Banking from the University of Lagos, and an http://M.Sc. in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Lafia.
In the statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the President charged Mr. Enitan to lead a Civil Service that is professional, merit-driven, accountable, innovative and responsive to the needs of Nigerians.
