The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, has commissioned a fleet of electric mass transit buses to reduce transportation costs for federal civil servants in the Federal Capital Territory.

The buses, commissioned at Eagle Square, Abuja, are part of the 100 units approved by the Federal Executive Council under the Renewed Hope Mass Transit Scheme. The vehicles have also been approved by the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), the agency responsible for automotive standards and development in Nigeria.

The initiative is aimed at easing the impact of rising transportation costs on public servants by providing affordable and reliable transportation along designated routes. The Federal Government said the scheme is also expected to improve punctuality and attendance across ministries, departments and agencies, while enhancing the wellbeing and productivity of civil servants.

‎The first phase will operate on designated routes across the Federal Capital Territory, covering major residential corridors and the federal secretariat complex. The deployment is intended to test the scheme under operational conditions and establish a framework for its potential expansion across the federal public service.

‎The intervention is being implemented under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places the welfare of Nigerian workers at the centre of the Federal Government’s economic reform programme.
