Fifty officers of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have graduated from the three-month Junior Course 25 at the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College (NCCSC), Gwagwalada, Abuja, in a move aimed at strengthening professional competence and leadership within the service.

‎The graduation ceremony, held on Friday, August 28, 2026, featured the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, as the Special Guest of Honour. Adeniyi charged the graduates to uphold integrity, sound judgment and the national interest in the discharge of their responsibilities.

‎The Comptroller-General said modern Customs administration requires officers to demonstrate competence and accountability beyond revenue collection, stressing the importance of effective leadership in a complex operational environment.

‎“Leadership is not defined solely by the rank that you wear, but is demonstrated through competence, fairness, courage and the responsibility you take,” Adeniyi told the graduates.

‎He urged the officers to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the course to their assignments, while maintaining professionalism and putting the interests of the country above personal considerations.

The Commandant of the College, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs Dow Gaura, commended the graduates for their dedication and highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen training at the institution. These include the adoption of digital learning tools and strategic training partnerships with the Nigerian Army.

Certificates were presented to all 50 graduates, while the Comptroller-General also presented special awards to the three top-performing officers in recognition of their outstanding performance during the course.

‎Activities marking the graduation began on Wednesday, August 26, with a regimental dinner. Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs Suleiman Chiroma, who represented the Comptroller-General, urged the officers to demonstrate vigilance, professionalism and decisive leadership as they resume duties across various NCS commands.
