ACCOUNTANT GENERAL OFFICE CHARGES FEDERAL PAY OFFICERS TO UPHOLD PROFESSIONALISM AND TRANSPARENCY
The Accountant General of the Federation, Dr. (Mrs.) Oluwatoyin Madein, has charged Federal Pay Officers (FPOs) to uphold transparency, dedication, and professionalism in their duties. This call was made during her working visit to the Federal Pay Office in Benin, Edo State, as part of her tour of Federal Pay Offices nationwide.
Dr. Madein emphasized the importance of FPOs ensuring that Federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) comply with public financial management reform initiatives. She noted that as representatives of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), FPOs must conduct themselves with utmost dedication and avoid acts that could tarnish the Federal Treasury’s image.
The Accountant General of the Federation emphasised on the Federal Government’s commitment to the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy. She urged FPOs to monitor and ensure that MDAs do not operate accounts with commercial banks or circumvent TSA policy provisions. Dr. Madein explained that due approval from the President, communicated by the AGF, is required before MDAs can operate commercial bank accounts.
Dr. Madein stressed the importance of FPOs maintaining accurate, presentable, and acceptable records.
