ARUNA QUADRI BOWS OUT OF ITTF WORLD CUP
Nigeria’s top table tennis player, Aruna Quadri, has exited the International Table Tennis (ITTF) World Cup after losing to Portuguese Marcos Freitas in the group stage.
The Nigerian had started his campaign with a 4-0 win over Puerto Rico’s Daniel Gonzalez, setting the final group 15 tie against Freitas.
Aruna had more points than Freitas and was rated number one in the group.
The tie between Aruna and Freitas will decide the winner of the group and who will advance to the knockout stage of the competition.
Freitas will face Tomokazu Harimoto of Japan in the Round of 16, and the tournament will end on April 21.
