BADENOCH CALLS FOR MANDELSON FILES TO BE MADE PUBLIC BEFORE CABINET SECRETARY DISMISSAL
British politician Kemi Badenoch has written to the regulator of civil service appointments urging them to stop Prime Minister Keir Starmer from sacking the cabinet secretary until after documents relating to Lord Mandelson have been published.
Head of the Civil Service, Chris Wormald, is understood to be negotiating an exit package from the job to which he was appointed by the Prime Minister in December 2024.
However, Cabinet Office minister Chris Ward said the process of releasing documents was under way and would be unaffected by other matters.
In her letter to the First Civil Service Commissioner, Badenoch said since the cabinet secretary is overseeing the government’s release of documents demanded by Parliament about Lord Mandelson’s appointment as US ambassador, his removal should wait until after that is complete.
