ABUJA, Sept 16 – Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu, has urged federal appointees to better understand government reforms and explain them to Nigerians at the grassroots.

‎Bagudu spoke at a summit of federal appointees in Abuja on budget implementation. He said President Tinubu removed fuel subsidy and reformed the foreign exchange market to fix the economy, even though the reforms have caused hardship.

He said the reforms have improved government revenue and given more money to states and local governments to perform their duties. He said this is in line with President Tinubu’s commitment to fiscal federalism.

According to him, the Federal Government is also paying debts owed to states and taking steps to boost local production. He said government spending on security, infrastructure and livelihood support benefits all parts of the country, not a particular region.

Bagudu said the economy is showing positive signs, but more work is needed to achieve the target of a one trillion dollar economy by 2030 and to reduce poverty.
