DEFENCE MINISTER COMMENDS OTTI OVER NAF COMPLEX, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO SOUTH-EAST SECURITY

The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has commended Abia State Governor Alex Otti for constructing the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Administrative Complex in Umuahia, describing the project as a major contribution to national security.

‎Speaking at the commissioning ceremony alongside Governor Otti and the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the minister said the facility demonstrates how state governments can support the country’s security architecture through strategic investments.

Musa said effective national security requires collaboration among all levels of government, security agencies and citizens. He noted that the new administrative complex would enhance the Nigerian Air Force’s operational planning, personnel management and overall readiness.

‎The minister also urged Air Force personnel deployed to Abia State to maintain cordial relations with residents, stressing that their presence should promote peace, safety and public confidence rather than create challenges for the civilian population.

‎He linked the project to ongoing efforts to improve security in the South-East, including the recent South-East Security Summit, and assured residents that resolutions reached at the meeting would be fully implemented to strengthen peace and economic development in the region.

‎Governor Otti said the project reflected his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property, while thanking President Bola Tinubu for supporting the establishment of a Nigerian Air Force presence in Abia State.

The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, thanked the Abia State Government for the facility and pledged that the Nigerian Air Force would make judicious use of the complex and other assets to enhance security coverage across the South-East.
