FCT MINISTER WIKE APPROVES 70,000 MINIMUM WAGE FOR WORKERS
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has approved the immediate payment of N70,000 as the new minimum wage for all administration staff.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Head of the Civil Service of the FCT, Anthony Odeh, and made available to journalists.
This follows President Bola Tinubu’s May 2024 Minimum Wage Bill, which approved N70,000 for workers.
The FCT Chapters of the Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress threatened to shut down activities on November 30, 2024, following directives from national labor unions to embark on a nationwide strike over the implementation of the minimum wage in some states, including the FCT.
The move is part of the minister’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of the staff.
