FEDERAL GOVERNMENT HOLDS MEETING TO PROTECT CRITICAL INFRASTRUCTURE

The Federal Government has hosted a Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII) Protection and Resilience Workshop, bringing together key policymakers, security agencies, and sector regulators at the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in Abuja.

At the Workshop, Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun has emphasized the importance of improving cybersecurity to protect financial assets. 

He highlighted the surge in cyber threats affecting both government entities and private individuals, emphasizing the crucial role cybersecurity plays in protecting Nigeria’s digital assets. 

During the meeting,

The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu,  said Nigeria is being confronted by the growing threats of attacks on telecommunications systems, banking platforms, power and energy grids as well as military networks.

He also listed transportation systems, national databases, elections, digital systems and other critical assets that are experiencing such heightened threats, adding that it was time for all stakeholders to join hands and address it.
