FEDERAL GOVERNMENT PROMISES TO PROVIDE CONDUCIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR PRIVATE ENERGY INVESTORS

The Federal Government has promised to create an enabling environment for private sector participation in the power sector. 

Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, made this known during a facility tour of the Genesis Energy company at the Port Harcourt refinery in Rivers State. 

The Minister praised the partnership between Genesis Energy and the Nigeria National  Petroleum Company Limited(NNPCL) to improve electricity supply in the country.

He noted that the partnership between Genesis Energy and NNPC would improve the sufficiency, efficiency, and reliability of power supply.

 The Minister,Adelabu also expressed satisfaction with the facilities available at the site, saying that the government wants to eliminate inherent inefficiencies and ensure that excess energy generated is taken off and given to where it will be used.

The Minister revealed that the excess power generated from the facility would be fed into the national grid. 

Meanwhile,The Genesis Energy facility operates an 84MW Gas-Fired Power Project at the NNPC Port Harcourt Refinery, which has achieved over 99% availability with zero Loss Time Injury (LTI) incidents since its commissioning in 2014.
