FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO CANCER TREATMENT AND PREVENTION

The World Health Organization (WHO) has commended Nigeria’s efforts in cancer prevention and treatment, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the country’s fight against the disease.

Speaking at the 2025 World Cancer Day commemoration in Abuja, WHO Country Representative, Dr. Walter Kazadi Mulombo, praised the Federal Ministry of Health for its leadership in coordinating cancer control initiatives.
He emphasized that this year’s theme, *”United by Unique,”* highlights the importance of a people-centered approach to cancer care, ensuring that individuals, families, and communities are actively involved in health systems.

Dr. Mulombo noted that WHO continues to advocate for the adoption of global cancer initiatives, including the Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer, the Cervical Cancer Elimination Initiative, and the Global Breast Cancer Initiative.
