FEDERAL GOVERNMENT UNVEILS POLICY ON SKILLS DEVELOPMENT IN FORMAL, NON-FORMAL EDUCATION
The Federal Government has unveiled a national policy for skills development in formal and non-formal education.
Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, represented by his Senior Special Adviser, Dr. Ismaila Adiatu, explained that the policy is not merely a collection of ideas, but a blueprint and a roadmap that charts a course towards a brighter future for all Nigerians.
He added that the ministry has partnered with the African Development Bank to train 229 girls and 134 students in the North-East geo-political zone.
The policy acknowledges that skills development is not just an educational imperative but a fundamental economic and social necessity.
The policy also encourages stakeholders to ensure training institutions produce graduates equipped with the skills in demand, rather than just those relevant in the past.
