FFA PRESIDENT DEFENDS THE HIGH-PRICED WORLD CUP FINAL TICKET PACKAGE
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has joked that he would personally deliver “a hot dog and a Coke” to any supporter willing to pay 2 million dollars for a ticket to the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to reports today, Infantino responded to criticism over soaring ticket prices after seats for the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium were listed on FIFA’s resale platform for nearly 2.3 million dollars each.
The FIFA president defended the tournament’s pricing structure, arguing that resale values reflect demand rather than FIFA’s original prices, claiming ticket costs were comparable to other major sporting events in the United States.
Infantino added that around 25% of group-stage tickets are available for less than 300 dollars, comparing the price to attending a college sports game in the US.
The issue of ticket affordability has become a major talking point ahead of the expanded 48-team tournament, with supporters also facing inflated hotel and travel costs across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
