The Federal Government has officially launched the Human Resource Modules of the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, IPPIS. The Go-Live ceremony was held on Monday, 27 July 2026, in Abuja by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

‎According to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, the launch marks a major step in modernising HR management. She said the new system will harmonise personnel data, eliminate inefficiencies, and strengthen transparency, accountability and service delivery across government.

‎The HCSF explained that the IPPIS HR Modules digitise the entire employee lifecycle. This includes biometric enrolment, onboarding, payroll, leave applications, employee movement, and workforce analytics. The platform currently covers over 508 Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

‎Mrs. Walson-Jack said the system will improve data integrity, stop duplication, automate approvals, and provide audit trails. She added that over 600,000 civil servants will now be able to manage records, download payslips, and apply for leave online, while government can use the data for better planning.

‎The HCSF emphasized that the platform was built locally by Nigerian firm, Soft Alliance. She said this aligns with the Federal Government’s Nigeria First Policy by promoting local expertise, protecting government data, and reducing reliance on foreign software licenses.

‎The Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission, Prof. Tunji Olaopa, described the launch as the result of nearly 20 years of reforms since IPPIS began in 2006. The Managing Director of Soft Alliance, Dr. Bisi Aina, said the deployment shows Nigeria’s growing capacity in public sector technology and will improve governance.

‎Officials at the event called for strong change management and digital champions across MDAs to drive adoption. The Permanent Secretary, Career Management Office, Mrs. Nkiruka Jones-Nebo, commended the leadership of the HCSF, saying the launch is another milestone in transforming the Federal Civil Service for better service delivery.
