FOOTBALL ADMINISTRATOR ADAMU NAMED FIRST NIGERIAN CAF ACTING SECRETARY-GENERAL
Nigerian football administrator Samson Adamu has made history, becoming the first Nigerian appointed as the Acting Secretary General of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) since its inception seven decades ago.
Adamu’s appointment was ratified by the CAF Congress in Cairo following a proposal by the Executive Committee.
He steps into the role immediately, succeeding Swiss-Congolese Veron Mosengo-Omba, who resigned from the position earlier the same day.
Until this elevation, Adamu served as CAF’s Director of Tournaments and Events, where he built a reputation for the high-level delivery of continental competitions.
In response to the development, the National Sports Commission (NSC) in Abuja described the appointment as a testament to Nigeria’s growing influence in global sports governance.
