The House of Representatives has announced plans to submit to President Bola Tinubu, the total sum of seven hundred and four point nine one million naira for distribution to vulnerable Nigerians to cushion the effect of the economic hardship occasioned by the removal of subsidy from petrol.

This was announced by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen at plenary, who maintained that the submission would be done on December 31, 2024.

It would be recalled that the deputy speaker Benjamin Kalu had in a motion on the eighteenth of July 2024,  urged the House to donate half of their salaries to meet the needs of Nigerians as part of efforts to stop the end bad governance protest.

Following the adoption of the motion, the House resolved to donate fifty per cent of lawmakers’ salaries for six months to address their challenges.
