LADIES GOLF ASSOCIATION PARTNERS WITH MINISTRY OF ART AND TOURISM TO PROMOTE  CULTURE

The Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, LGAN, has proposed a partnership with the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy to co-host the 2026 All-Africa Challenge Trophy in Abuja. LGAN President Dr. Lami Onayi Ahmed made the proposal during a courtesy visit to Minister Hannatu Musa Musawa on Tuesday, July 2, 2026.

Under the plan, the Ministry will serve as Cultural Night Partner and curate a showcase of Nigerian arts, music, fashion and cuisine for African teams, diplomats and global media. LGAN also wants the Ministry to officially designate AACT 2026 as an Official Cultural Economy Event, and facilitate inclusion of its Sports-to-Business Investment Pavilion at the Nigeria-Belgium-Luxembourg Business Forum in Brussels this October.

Minister Musawa welcomed the proposal, saying golf builds resilience and mental health and the Cultural Night partnership fits the Ministry’s mandate. She noted that hosting the championship from November 2–7, 2026 at IBB International Golf Club will help expand Nigeria’s tourism narrative beyond Lagos and spotlight what Abuja and the FCT have to offer local communities.

Dr. Ahmed said AACT 2026 is more than a tournament — it’s Africa’s premier platform where sport meets culture, tourism and investment. Sanctioned by The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews, the event is expected to attract over 30 African national delegations, diplomats, government representatives and international media for seven days of sport, cultural exchange and business dialogue.
