MINISTER OF STATE FOR HEALTH AND SOCIAL WELFARE, IZIAQ SALAKO, SOLICITS STRONGER FRAMEWORKS FOR HEALTHCARE DELIVERY IN AFRICA.

Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Salako, has called for stronger legal and ethical frameworks to guide healthcare delivery in Africa.

Speaking at the African Bar Association Medical Committee Annual Conference in Abuja, he emphasized that healthcare is not just a commercial service but a fundamental human right that governments must guarantee.

He highlighted challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, unequal access, and the mass migration of healthcare professionals, stressing the need for reforms that uphold professionalism, accountability, and patient rights.

Dr. Salako also emphasised the critical role of both legal and medical professionals in safeguarding ethical healthcare practices.

He urged lawyers to advocate for laws that protect patient rights and ensure medical accountability, while calling on healthcare practitioners to uphold ethical principles.
