NATIONAL BOARD FOR TECHNOLOGY INCUBATION PUSHES FOR GLOBAL RELEVANCE THROUGH INNOVATION
The Director General of the National Board for Technology Incubation, NBTI, Dr. Kazeem Kolawole Raji, has unveiled major achievements recorded by the agency in his first year in office, positioning innovation and indigenous technology as central to Nigeria’s development agenda.
The Director spoke at a World Press Conference held in Abuja, to account for his stewardship and outline the future direction of the Board. He described as a historic milestone, the agency’s recent secured statutory allocation of 4 percent of the National Development Levy under the 2025 Tax Reform Acts.
Dr. Raji also pointed to the NextGen Innovation Challenge, which culminated in London in October 2025, as a major global breakthrough that showcased Nigerian innovators, attracted significant investment, and led to the adoption of the model by the Commonwealth across 56 countries.
Looking ahead, he announced that the NextGen Innovation Challenge 2026 will focus on high-impact sectors such as artificial intelligence, renewable energy, digital infrastructure and women in tech, with activities starting in February.
The NBTI boss further reaffirmed his commitment to President Tinubu’s vision, stressing that the Board’s renewed momentum signals restored confidence for innovators and a stronger global position for Nigeria’s innovation economy.
