NDPHC INVESTS N500 BILLION IN TRANSMISSION INFRASTRUCTURE
The Managing Director/CEO of Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC), Engr. Jennifer Adighije, has inspected the 330/132/33kV Lafia Transmission Substation, a critical component of Nigeria’s power infrastructure. The substation, constructed by NDPHC and commissioned in 2022, has significantly improved power supply to Nasarawa State and surrounding areas.
Adighije revealed that NDPHC has invested approximately N500 billion in developing transmission infrastructure and networks nationwide. She emphasized the company’s commitment to President’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at scaling power generation, transmission, and distributed access to electricity .
The Lafia substation is a world-class facility, built to international standards, with two 150 MVA transformers, two 60 MVA transformers, and one 75 MVA reactor. Adighije debunked claims that NDPHC is unable to generate power optimally, stating that the company has more capacity than transmission can carry.
During a courtesy visit to Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, emphasized the need for collaboration with Distribution Companies (DisCos) to ensure efficient power transmission and revenue generation. Governor Sule praised Adighije’s leadership, noting significant transformation since her arrival.
Adighije highlighted the Electricity Act’s impact, enabling stakeholders to transact business bilaterally and stimulating market activities.
She therefore assured that NDPHC will continue to dedicate resources to scaling transmission and delivering access to electricity to the last mile, benefiting both Nasarawa State and Nigeria
