NIGER REPUBLIC BARS NIGERIANS WITH ECOWAS PASSPORT
Niger has imposed restrictions on Nigerians travelling with the ECOWAS passport, barring entry for those without a valid international passport.
According to a media report, the move follows the country’s withdrawal from the Economic Community of West African States, along with Mali and Burkina Faso.
New immigration measures are being implemented at crossings such as Illela and Konni, causing cross-border traders and commuters to face difficulties as Nigerien authorities refuse to recognize the ECOWAS passport as a valid means of identification.
