NIGERIA ARMY URGES TROOPS TO EMBRACE WELFARE SCHEMES

The Director General of the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation (NAFIC), Maj. Gen. Julius Osifo, urging troops in the 81 Division area to take advantage of the welfare schemes introduced by the Nigerian Army.

Osifo spoke during a sensitisation lecture on the Nigerian Army Personnel Insurance Scheme (NAPIS) and other welfare initiatives held at the Hippo Officers’ Mess, Victoria Island, Lagos.

He said the ongoing nationwide sensitisation programme was designed to educate officers and soldiers on welfare packages available to them, adding that the exercise has covered major formations and operational theatres across the country in the last four weeks.
Gen. Osifo described NAPIS as a comprehensive insurance scheme that provides cover for service-related risks, including injuries, disabilities, medical expenses and death.

He said the lecture was aimed at enlightening personnel on the scheme’s coverage, claims process and benefits payable to next of kin in the event of death.

Gen. Osifo advised personnel to carefully select and regularly update their next of kin details to avoid complications during claims processing, warning that failure to enrol in the schemes could lead to loss of entitlements.
