NIGERIA POSITIONS NATURAL GAS AS DRIVER OF ENERGY SECURITY AND PROSPERITY
The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo has described the Nigeria International Energy Summit, NIES, as a vital platform for dialogue, cooperation, and investment in Africa’s energy future.
Speaking at the 9th edition of the summit, the Minister commended the organisers for sustaining NIES as a meeting point where policy meets investment and shared challenges are turned into collective solutions.
According to the Minister,Ekpo energy now plays a strategic role in national stability, economic growth, social inclusion, and long-term resilience across Africa and the global community.
Nigeria’s energy strategy, the Minister said, is shaped by the realities of the global energy transition and Africa’s development needs. Nigeria is therefore pursuing a transition that is green, just, inclusive, and pragmatic, with natural gas positioned as a key bridge fuel.
Furthermore, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to scale gas production to 10 billion standard cubic feet per day by 2030.
