The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) says the national grid has returned to normal operation following multiple trippings on the 330-kilovolt (kV) transmission network on Monday, October 19, 2026.
In a statement issued on Monday, NISO said the incident occurred at approximately 12:40 p.m., affecting only a section of the national grid.
The operator said it immediately implemented corrective measures in collaboration with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), successfully restoring normal operations.
NISO dismissed unverified reports circulating in the media about the incident, urging the public to disregard misleading information and rely on its official communication channels for accurate updates.
The system operator reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining grid stability, ensuring reliable electricity transmission and providing timely information to the public. Further updates are available on its website, (www.niso.org.ng) (http://www.niso.org.ng)
