NPA and Belgium to Strengthen Seaport Efficiency
Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) and the Kingdom of Belgium have committed to strengthening bilateral ties to enhance efficiency at Nigeria’s seaports and boost international trade volumes between the two nations. This commitment was made during a meeting between NPA Managing Director, Abubakar Dantsoho, and the Belgian Ambassador to Nigeria, Pieter Leenknegt.
Dantsoho revealed that Nigeria holds the largest market share of West African freight from the Port of Antwerp, with over six million tonnes annually.
He noted that the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has provided the necessary support to further improve Nigeria’s standing in West and Central Africa’s trade statistics.
The NPA plans to leverage Antwerp’s port expertise to prepare Nigeria for the upcoming National Single Window (NSW) project, which aims to streamline and enhance trade operations across the country.
