OSUN GOVERNOR ADELEKE APPOINTS DAVIDO HEAD OF YOUTH MOBILISATION FOR RE-ELECTION CAMPAIGN
Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been named head of youth mobilization for the Accord Party’s campaign council in Osun state, a strategic move aimed at galvanizing young voters ahead of the August 2026 gubernatorial election.
The Grammy-nominated singer made the announcement on his X account on Tuesday, stating he was appointed by his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election under the Accord Party banner.
The appointment comes as Governor Adeleke, who defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) late last year, positions the Accord Party as his platform for a second term.
Davido, who formally joined the Accord Party in December 2025 and collected his membership card in Osogbo, brings significant star power and a massive youth following to the campaign.
His role is expected to boost grassroots mobilization, particularly among younger voters, by leveraging his influence as one of Africa’s biggest music exports.
