PRESIDENT TINUBU CONDEMNS KILLING OF OYO TEACHER
President Bola Tinubu has condemned the killing of a teacher abducted last Friday in Esiele community, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. Gunmen invaded the area and kidnapped staff, students and pupils from Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School.
The president said security operatives were working around the clock to rescue the victims and arrest the bandits and their collaborators. He expressed sympathy to Governor Seyi Makinde and the people of Oyo State, and pledged that the federal government would work with the state to secure the release of those abducted.
Tinubu said he had directed the Inspector-General of Police to lead a tech-driven operation, with tactical and Intelligence Response Team units deployed in Oyo and Kwara states.
He said he expected a breakthrough soon and warned that the attackers and their local collaborators would face prosecution.
The president also renewed his call for state police, saying repeated kidnappings showed the need to secure underserved areas. He urged the National Assembly to accelerate passage of the law establishing state police forces.
