PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES ENUGU RANGERS ON WINNING NIGERIAN LEAGUE TITLE
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Rangers International FC of Enugu on clinching the Nigeria Premier Football League title for a record ninth time. The President praised the club’s management, players, and supporters for finishing the season at the top of the table with 68 points from 38 matches, ahead of Rivers United.
In his message, President Tinubu recalled Rangers’ historic dominance in the 1970s and 1980s, when the club won multiple league and FA Cup titles. He highlighted their 1975 run to the African Cup of Champions Clubs final and their 1977 victory in the African Cup Winners’ Cup as milestones that brought pride to Nigeria.
The President also commended Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, saying the victory reflects the impact of his administration’s investments in youth and sports. Tinubu noted that as one of Nigeria’s oldest clubs, Rangers have produced some of the country’s finest footballers who have gone on to represent the nation with distinction on the global stage.
President Tinubu further applauded Rivers United for their strong performance and sportsmanship throughout the campaign. He wished both Rangers International and Rivers United success as they prepare to represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League.
