PRESIDENT TINUBU DIRECTS SECURITY AGENCIES TO ARREST KILLERS IN BENUE

President Bola Tinubu has directed the Inspector General of Police and the Chief of Defence Staff to immediately arrest the killer herders responsible for the recent massacre in Yelewata community, Benue State, where over 100 people were killed. The President gave the directive during a meeting with stakeholders at the Government House in Makurdi, Benue State.

President Tinubu expressed disappointment that no arrests had been made yet and urged the heads of the Department of State Services and the National Intelligence Agency to intensify surveillance and gather actionable intelligence to apprehend the perpetrators.

He also advised Governor Hyacinth Alia to set up a peace committee in the state to promote peaceful coexistence.

The President directed the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security to follow up on the allocation of land for ranching to help resolve the conflict between farmers and herders. He also called for blood donations to support the injured receiving treatment at the Benue State Teaching Hospital.
