The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has urged the Code of Conduct Tribunal to fully embrace digital technology in the administration of justice. He made the call on Monday, July 21, 2026, during a courtesy visit by the Chairman of the CCT, Dr. Mainasara Umar Kogo, and members of the Tribunal’s management team in Abuja.

Senator Akume said digital tools are critical to improving case management, records administration and overall operational efficiency. He noted that the Federal Government’s drive to modernize public institutions through digital transformation and better service delivery is gathering momentum, and the Tribunal must align with that agenda.

The SGF commended the Tribunal for its commitment to promoting integrity, accountability and ethical standards in the public service. He described the CCT’s constitutional role in adjudicating breaches of the Code of Conduct for public officers as a vital pillar in Nigeria’s anti-corruption architecture.

According to him, the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration places premium importance on institutional reforms, public sector efficiency and strict adherence to the rule of law. He stressed that strong institutions like the CCT are indispensable to sustainable national development, economic growth and investor confidence.

Senator Akume emphasized the need for stronger collaboration among government institutions to achieve integrity and accountability. He assured the Tribunal of the OSGF’s continued support and encouraged it to engage more with MDAs, while strengthening preventive measures through public enlightenment, training and effective enforcement.

In his remarks, Dr. Kogo said the visit was to present the Tribunal’s one-year scorecard. He disclosed that the CCT has embarked on far-reaching reforms, including inspection visits to all zonal offices to assess operations and improve service delivery. He also noted stronger collaboration with anti-corruption agencies and civil society to boost the fight against corruption.

The CCT Chairman announced a major milestone, saying all inherited and pending cases have been concluded, leaving the Tribunal with no backlog. He reaffirmed the Tribunal’s resolve to sustain reforms, deepen partnerships and continue delivering impartial, timely and efficient justice in line with Nigerians’ expectations.
