US DELIVERS MILITARY SUPPLIES TO NIGERIA
The United States government has delivered critical military supplies to Nigeria as part of efforts to bolster the country’s ongoing counterterrorism and security operations.
The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) announced the development in a statement posted on its verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, noting that the supplies were officially handed over to Nigerian authorities in Abuja
This delivery supports Nigeria’s ongoing operations and emphasises our shared security partnership,” AFRICOM said, tagging the United States Mission in Nigeria, @USinNigeria.
According to the command, the delivery underscored Washington’s continued commitment to strengthening its security partnership with Abuja.
The latest assistance comes amid renewed collaboration between Nigeria and its international allies to address persistent insecurity across parts of the country, particularly terrorism and violent extremism in the North East and North West regions.
In November 2025, the Tinubu administration had appealed to the U.S. government to deploy its military to assist Nigeria in combating terrorism in several states.
