WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION RAISES ALARM OVER EBOLA AND CONFLICT IN DR CONGO
The World Health Organization, WHO, has warned that the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo is hampering the Ebola outbreak response.
According to the head of the organisation, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus WHO cannot build community trust or isolate the sick while bombs are falling.
Dr. Ghebreyesus who is due to arrive in DR Congo today to spearhead scaling up efforts to contain the virus said stopping transmission in the region depends entirely on humanitarian access.
He called on all parties to agree to an immediate ceasefire to allow medical teams safe access.
