FMC YENAGOA PROJECTS STALLED OVER DELAY IN 2025 CAPITAL FUND RELEASE – MEDICAL DIRECTOR

The Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, Dr. James Omietimi, says delay in the release of the 2025 capital allocation has stalled projects and affected operations at the hospital.

‎Omietimi stated this when he received a team from the Fiscal Responsibility Commission who were on verification of federal government projects in the South-South.

He said the Centre has been struggling to provide healthcare services to residents of Bayelsa and neighbouring communities due to funding constraints.

‎The Medical Director appealed to the Federal Government to urgently release capital allocations to enable the hospital complete ongoing projects.

Earlier, leader of the FRC team, Mr. Bede Anyanwu, said the verification exercise is to ensure that funds released for government projects are properly utilized.

Anyanwu said the exercise is not to witch-hunt any institution but to promote transparency and accountability in line with the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2007.

The team inspected projects including the renovation and expansion of the Mother and Child Complex, water facilities, House Officers block and Resident Doctors’ Quarters.
