The Central Bank of Nigeria has signed an innovation deal with Singapore to boost financial ties with Asia.
CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Global Finance and Technology Network in Singapore.
He also held talks with the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
The meeting took place on his way to the IMF-World Bank meetings in Bangkok.
Cardoso also convened the Nigeria-Asia Financial Connectivity Dialogue in collaboration with J.P. Morgan, NGX and FMDQ Group.
He said Nigeria’s reforms are aimed at building deeper and more liquid financial markets.
He said reforms in the foreign exchange market are to remove distortions and restore transparency.
He said the real test of reform is not to attract capital once, but to create confidence for capital to stay and grow.
The Dialogue brought together investors, financial institutions and Nigerians living in Asia.
The Singapore engagements are part of broader meetings across Asia, including Beijing.
