FCT ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCES DECISION TO RE-ENFORCE ARREST OF ANYONE VANDALISING PUBLIC INFRASTRUCTURE

FCT Administration has announced its decision to re-enforce the arrest of any individuals or group of persons caught vandalizing public infrastructure to face charges of economic sabotage.

Speaking to the media after the meeting of the first FCT Security Council meeting of 2025, chaired by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, the Commissioner of Police, FCT, Olatunji Disu, emphasized the need for stricter penalties, noting that lenient punishments have allowed vandals to continue their activities.

Disu highlighted the dangers posed by vandalism, and noted that the council also resolved to enforce a two-week ban on the operations of Pantekers to profile operators and ensure only legitimate businesses remain.

Addressing the persistent threat of “one chance” robbery, Disu revealed that the police made significant progress in 2024 by recovering 21 operational vehicles used by the criminals.

The Commissioner also responded to inquiries about the bomb blast in Bwari, assuring residents that investigations are ongoing to arrest the perpetrator.

The FCT Administration’s strong stance on vandalism, tighter regulations on scrap metal dealers and scavengers, and commitment to combating robbery highlight its determination to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents in 2025.
