INEC WARNS TRANSPORT UNIONS AGAINST LOGISTICAL LAPSES

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a warning to transport unions responsible for logistics during the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area council elections, emphasizing the need for strict adherence to pre-agreed arrangements.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, conveyed this message during a meeting in Abuja with transport union leaders, asserting that the commission would not accept any excuses that might compromise the electoral process.

Amupitan underscored the critical role of transport logistics in electoral operations, stating that the success of the elections heavily relies on the timely and effective transportation of materials and personnel across the FCT’s six area councils.

Meanwhile, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Mrs. Victoria Eta-Messi, identified the involved unions, including the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), National Association of Road Transport Owners (NATRO), and Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria.
