KENYAN FOUND DEAD AFTER GOING MISSING ON EVEREST

A Kenyan mountaineer, Joshua Cheruiyot Kirui, and his Nepali guide, Nawang Sherpa, disappeared near the summit of Mount Everest while attempting to summit without supplemental oxygen.

According to reports, a pair’s search team is yet to locate them.

Kirui, a banker with one of Kenya’s largest lenders, had expressed confidence in his ability to conquer Everest without additional oxygen.

His death has hit the Kenyan mountain climbing community hard, with fellow climber James Muhia expressing support for the recovery of his Body.

This is the fourth recorded death on Everest this week.

The number of Point of Sales (PoS) machines deployed in Nigeria rose to 2.7 million in March 2024, a 50% increase from the previous year.

The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) reported that 864,753 new PoS terminals were deployed in the last year, but the number for deployed PoS is still lower than the total registered terminals.

The growth of PoS transactions in Nigeria is driven by factors such as rapid adoption by merchants and the shortage of Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) deployed by banks.

Over 1.9 million PoS operators are currently battling a new directive that requires them to register their business with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) by July 7.
