WALSON-JACK THANKS MEDIA FOR SUPPORT, SCRUTINY OF CIVIL SERVICE REFORMS

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, has commended the media for its support and professional coverage of the Federal Civil Service over the past two years.

Walson-Jack gave the commendation on Thursday, August 20, 2026, during a special interactive session with media correspondents and editors at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) in Abuja.

She said the media had played a significant role in helping Nigerians understand and appreciate the policies, programmes and reform initiatives being implemented across the Federal Civil Service.

‎The Head of Service particularly cited the media’s coverage of several OHCSF engagements, including the Meet and Greet with the Media, World Press Conferences on the International Civil Service Conference in 2025 and 2026, the press conference on the Paperless Civil Service and the briefing on her first 100 days in office.

According to her, reports, interviews, features and analyses by journalists have taken the Civil Service reform narrative beyond the OHCSF, while providing an important link between the Service and citizens.

‎Walson-Jack, however, urged journalists to go beyond reporting official statements by asking critical questions, seeking clarification, interrogating issues and holding public institutions accountable. She said constructive criticism and informed scrutiny were essential to building strong institutions.

‎She also called on the media to sustain responsible, factual, balanced and constructive journalism as the Federal Civil Service continues its reform and transformation journey. She urged journalists to report the Service’s achievements truthfully, interrogate its challenges fairly and help Nigerians understand its role in national development.

As she approaches the end of her tenure, Walson-Jack expressed appreciation for the partnership between the OHCSF and the media, saying the relationship had been built on trust, mutual respect and a shared commitment to serving Nigerians. She urged journalists to continue asking important questions and holding the Civil Service to high standards.
