BAGUDU REAFFIRMS NIGERIA’S COMMITMENT TO DEEPENING  RELATIONS WITH GERMANY

Nigeria The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening economic cooperation with Germany.

He said Nigeria wants to turn its long relationship with Germany into investment and industrial partnerships.

Bagudu spoke at the Germany-Nigeria Industrial Technology Conference in Abuja on Friday.

‎The conference was organized by the German Engineering Federation and the German Embassy in Nigeria.

‎It brought together government officials, German companies, Nigerian businesses and banks.

The event is part of a visit by 14 German companies in cement, mining and construction sectors.

The companies are seeking partnerships in Lagos and Abuja.

‎In his address, Bagudu said President Bola Tinubu’s reforms are aimed at improving the investment climate.

‎He said government wants private sector to invest and create jobs.

He said Nigeria plans to build a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

‎He said this will need more investment in manufacturing, mining and infrastructure.

He said there are opportunities for German firms in industrial technology and equipment.

On financing, he said Nigeria needs bankable projects and good financing tools.

He cited the 300 million euros German export credit guarantee as important.

Head of the German delegation, Chux Onaa, said German companies can support Nigeria’s industrial growth.

‎He said they can provide technology to improve productivity.

Deputy Head of German Embassy, Johannes Lehne, said Nigeria’s reforms have boosted trade.

He said financial tools are available to help German and Nigerian firms work together.

The conference reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to deeper economic cooperation.
