FG’S $1 TRILLION ECONOMY AGENDA TAKES CENTRE STAGE AS CICAN MARKS 20TH ANNIVERSARY
ABUJA, Nigeria — The Commerce and Industry Correspondents Association of Nigeria has unveiled plans for a national dialogue on the Federal Government’s $1 trillion economy agenda.
The dialogue is part of activities marking its 20th anniversary.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2026, at Barcelona Hotel, Abuja. It will bring together policymakers, industry leaders, investors and media practitioners.
The theme is “FG’s $1 Trillion Economy: Role of Policy Makers, Stakeholders and Media in Its Actualisation.”
The dialogue will discuss policies and investments needed to drive industrialisation and attract investments.
The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment and the Minister of State are expected at the event. Heads of government agencies, manufacturers and development partners are also expected.
Discussions will focus on the roles of government, private sector and media in achieving the economic vision. A major highlight will be presentation of CICAN Awards of Excellence.
Recipients include Governors Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara and Dikko Radda of Katsina. Heads of agencies under the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment and other leaders will also be honoured.
Some award recipients will serve as special guests of honour.
The anniversary committee says the awards are to celebrate excellence and contributions to national development.
It says the 20th anniversary marks two decades of specialised journalism on commerce and industry.
The committee says the dialogue is expected to produce recommendations to support economic diversification and growth.
