‎HEAD OF CIVIL SERVICE MOURNS FALLEN AIR FORCE PERSONNEL, CALLS FOR SOLEMN OBSERVANCE

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mr. Olumuyiwa Abel, has condoled with the families of the Nigerian Air Force personnel who died in a military aircraft crash in Igbokoda, Ondo State.

 

The Federal Government has declared a three-day national mourning period starting Tuesday, October 6, 2026, in honour of the deceased.

 

‎In a statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Eno Olotu, the Head of Service said the period is an opportunity for the nation to mourn the officers and show solidarity with their families and the Armed Forces.

 

He called on Ministries, extra-ministerial departments and civil servants to observe the period with dignity and respect.

 

He directed that all Federal Government offices should fly the national flag at half-mast throughout the mourning period.

 

He added that non-essential ceremonial and celebratory activities should be suspended, while essential government business should continue with regard to the solemn nature of the period.

 

He urged civil servants to conduct themselves with decorum and stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and the Armed Forces.
