NERC SAYS DISCOS GENERATED N603 BILLION REVENUE IN SECOND QUARTER OF 2026

Nigeria’s 11 electricity distribution companies recorded 81 percent collection efficiency in the second quarter of 2026.

 

‎The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission disclosed this in its quarterly report released on Monday, October 5.

 

The commission said the DisCos collected 603.64 billion naira out of 744.67 billion naira billed to customers in the second quarter. This represents an increase of 2.11 percentage points compared to the first quarter.

 

‎It said the average Aggregate Technical, Commercial and Collection loss across all DisCos was 36.23 percent, comprising technical and commercial loss of 21.33 percent and collection loss of 18.94 percent.

 

‎NERC noted that all DisCos failed to meet their targets, with Kaduna DisCo recording the worst performance.

 

On remittance, the commission said DisCos were invoiced 410.38 billion naira for the quarter and remitted 385.44 billion naira, representing 93.92 percent performance.

 

The report also said international bilateral customers paid 8.67 million dollars out of 18.84 million dollars invoiced, while domestic bilateral customers paid 6.91 billion naira out of 7.55 billion naira invoiced.

 

‎It added that average energy offtake by DisCos was 3,197 megawatt hours per hour, a decrease of 3.4 percent compared to the first quarter.
