ABUJA, Nigeria (AP) — The Nigeria Customs Service has pledged support for the 2026 World Public Relations Forum scheduled for November 2026.
Comptroller-General of Customs Adewale Adeniyi made the commitment on Tuesday when a delegation visited him at the Customs House in Maitama, Abuja.
The delegation was led by Justin Green, president and chief executive officer of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, and Ike Neliaku, president of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
Adeniyi said strategic communication has helped the success of key reforms by the service, including B’Odogwu, the Authorised Economic Operator program and Advance Ruling.
He said the measures are aimed at improving customs processes, providing predictability for traders and strengthening relations with stakeholders.
“The Nigeria Customs Service recognised the importance of the World Public Relations Forum and its potential to bring global attention to responsible communication, institutional trust and effective public service,” Adeniyi said.
Green said hosting the forum in Nigeria will be a major achievement for the country and the public relations profession in Africa.
He said the forum will showcase Nigeria’s cultural heritage and communication industry and create opportunities for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
“We are expecting all the 126 member countries of the Global Alliance to grace this forum,” Green said.
Neliaku said the institute is engaging key institutions and stakeholders because their support is vital to the success of the event.
He said the institute aims to deliver the “best, biggest, and brightest” World Public Relations Forum.
The forum will be held in Abuja from Nov. 15 to Nov. 21, 2026, with the theme “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World.”
